Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I’ve read that I can have a “Cease and Desist” letter sent to you that will legally prevent you from calling me.

A: According to the law, you certainly can send Portfolio Recovery Associates (PRA) a Cease and Desist letter. At that point, Portfolio Recovery Associates’ communications to you will stop. However, that Cease and Desist letter to Portfolio Recovery Associates does not affect a person’s legal or moral obligation to pay the debt. If the debt is legally owed, Portfolio Recovery Associates may, under certain circumstances, file a lawsuit against you.

This is a communication from a debt collector.
