Portfolio Recovery Associates is not collecting on behalf of a bank or credit-card company. We purchase debt from them. If you owed money to one of those companies, did not pay the entire balance, and we purchased it, you now owe that money directly to Portfolio Recovery Associates and only to Portfolio Recovery Associates.
